Question by ninfragile19: Would a classical nylon-stringed acoustic guitar be suitable for lessons?
I came into an acoustic/electric Dean Espana nylon-string guitar with built-in tuner, line out, etc. I was taking “lessons” from a family member and have recently decided to go to someone with more of a well-structured lesson plan. I told the instructor I have an acoustic, but didn’t specify the type. I eventually want to move to a steel-string acoustic, but would my Espana be good for the time being?

I always suggest students start with a classical, or nylon stringed, guitar for a couple of reasons. First your finger tips will develop callouses with much less pain, and you will be able to practice more. And, The fingerboard is usually wider, allowing students more room for those untrained hands.
